Project Purpose and Methodology

The primary purpose of the E3 Program Directory Project was to create an accessible and searchable online directory of Boston’s experiential environmental education (E3) programs.  The directory was developed through a survey of organizations that provide E3 programs to Boston's youth, irrespective of where the organizations where located.  The project team worked with a group of the Barr Foundation’s grantees, the “E3 Cluster”, to identify known E3 programs and develop survey questions.  The project team then developed a database of program contacts; performed a survey of organizations offering E3 programs and created an interactive searchable directory using Sharepoint technology.

Findings

The E3 Directory is an on-going process and the data will be continually updated over time through the use of periodic surveys and by direct maintenance by E3 Organizations. Documents, including a summary of the key findings from the most recent survey, can be found in the Documents to Download section below.
